Hey Guys.

Just wanted some advice on how to impress on insight days which specifically provide fast-track opportunities for Summer 2015 Internships.

How do you make yourself stand out in a crowd of potentially 100+ keen students.

Should you focus on the networking aspect of the day, answering questions during interactive seminars? researching the firm inside out?

Thanks.

I'm just curious what kind of program is this as it's very rare from an insight day to be fast-tracked even for a spring week. You should be more specific.

The only one I know is UBS undergrad insight day which offers a fast track. My main advice would be to take into account that they look at everything and monitor you constantly (even your posture in your chair) Ask insightful questions (not overly technical though), get involved in all activities (don't be shy), show teamwork in activities - if there is a person not saying anything ask them what they think. DO your research before - get to know the firm and the opps available there and if there are networking opportunities, take names, numbers, emails, anything that means you can name drop at a later date and follow up :)

I've never heard of being fast-tracked for summer unless you are talking about insight days in your first year of university. The others fast-track to Spring Weeks, but not all.

The key is the following:

1. Research
2. Asking (not loads) but very high quality, deep questions when bankers come to do a presentation (or whoever really)
3. When doing a task, take the lead and do not be shy - present well, and be confident
4. Network - and show you can get along easily with all the other people at the event by speaking to them a lot
5. During networking sessions, do not dominate but ask plenty of questions - don't be the guy too shy to ask for a business card, just do it and follow-up afterwards

How to impress on insight days: chat to employees/participate, note down their names, follow up on LinkedIn or via email afterwards asking for a phone call wanting to learn more about their careers, make the phone call, hold a professional conversation and there you go.
