Second Year Sixth Form EC's

Hi Everyone,

I'm moving on to my second year in Sixth Form in a few days, and I have a few choices in terms of extra-curricular activities I may wish to do. Last year I volunteered at a primary school for the year.
I can either: 1) Do that again, but at a different school 2) Join the finance society and co-head it (in my current school), even though we won't be doing a great deal finance related activity or 3) Join the model united nations society, where we'll be discussing current political events.

I'm just considering what will look best on my CV, and what will keep me in best stead for the future. I'm interested in IB as a potential career route.

Which option seems best to you guys and why?

Thanks in advance!

Given your only going into your second year of Sixth Form, enjoy yourself. Do whatever interests you; don't worry too much about getting EC's at this stage. Keep your eye out for IB insight events, but besides that, chill out.

Agree with this ^. Although if I had to choose, I would go Model United Nations - always think that looks impressive and somewhat different. I wouldn't do the same thing again though, unless you really enjoyed it.

Try and get a variety of ECs to show your grounding, yet I cant emphasise the importance of concentrating and nailing your studies at second year of sixth form - you don't want to miss your offer for a target uni.

As a person who did miss their offer at a target uni i cannot emphasize this enough. At the end of the day ECs in sixth form mean fuck all if you get auto filtered out due to bad grades.
