Hey guys,

Hope everyone is good. Now that the recruiting season for spring weeks is coming to an end it would be interesting to recap on your experience. Did you expect it to go down the way it did? Feel free to tell us about your offers, interviewing experiences, advice to next year applicants, etc.

Initially, I applied knowing the level of competition I was facing so I was very pessimistic. Even those numericals, I thought I wouldn't hang in.

The first 4/5 rejections were just constant shots to me, they were heartbreaking. Luckily I managed to land an interview at a BB and after getting that initial offer I was just relieved and didn't really mind too much about obtaining a 2nd offer.

I'm still waiting to hear back from a few places but I've surpassed my target, I have a semi-target profile.

My advise for 2016 applicants, be persistent and patient.

For me, my expectations were exceded. I study in a semi-target, so we still got quite a lot of networking events, I started in the beginning of October and applied to a total of 13 companies. I did a lot of practice for numericals and worked a lot on my CV and cover letters, tailoring each to match the bank I am applying to. And also a lot of effort and preparation for each interview, which subsequently led to my poor performance of exams :D But as someone said above, first year is not that important so I decided to 'sacrifice' it.
Got offers from all of them except Deutsche Bank. So my advice to any future candidates is dedicate yourself, know your technicals and commercial awareness, but most importantly present yourself as someone your interviewers would want to spend 20h in the office with. Banks do value their people. Good luck! :)
